Ultra Wideband (UWB) Technology
UWB is an exciting new technology that creates a world of opportunities for new wireless applications. UWB technology transmits information by generating radio energy at specific time instants over a large bandwidth. Focus Enhancements' UWB technology delivers the wireless bandwidth to effortlessly move large data files and enriched digital media from one location in a home or office to another. The high data rates offered through UWB technology comply with WiMedia Alliance and ECMA-368/369 international UWB standards. WiMedia is an industry association that establishes Ultra Wideband standards. |

Wireless USB Technology
Certified Wireless USB specifications from the USB-IF is the new wireless extension to USB technologies. Wireless USB, Focus Enhancements' first significant application of UWB technology, combines the speed of USB 2.0 with the convenience of wireless technology. The video clip above reveals the tremendous advancement Wireless USB brings to the world of connectivity.
Certified Wireless USB technology is well suited for a variety of consumer electronics, including PCs, printers, high-definition television (HDTV), media centers/servers, personal video recorders like TiVo¢ç, digital cameras, digital video camcorders, DVD recorders, cell phones, large-memory personal digital assistants and external network hard drives. |

The TT•1013 is a complete Ultra Wideband solution designed to be compliant with the WiMedia and ECMA-368/369 international standards.
Thanks to its extended 3.1 to 7.4 GHz frequency range, the TT•1013 supports high data-rate Ultra Wideband operations in both low bands and the high bands as defined by the WiMedia and ECMA-368 international standards. This enables deployment of product based on the TT•1013 outside of the United States without the use of mitigation techniques and without time restrictions.
The TT•1013 is the second generation UWB solution of the Focus Enhancements¡¯ Ultra Wideband radio platform. Thanks to its flexible support of operations in the 3.1 to 7.4 GHz band, the TT•1013 provides a competitive advantage for world-wide deployments, including countries where the available UWB spectrum might be fragmented by conservative regulations.
The TT•1013 hosts a full MAC, designed to be compliant with both Certified Wireless USB and WiMedia specifications. Through its distributed TDMA capabilities, the TT•1013 supports Quality-of-Service (QoS) sensitive applications, guaranteeing low latencies and high efficiency in the most critical of environments.
The TT•1013 supports advanced security mechanisms-including data encryption and decryption, message integrity, and replay attack protection-based on AES-128 CCM cryptography.
A plethora of common application interfaces are supported, enabling multiple options for integration in new or existing systems. Such interfaces include USB 2.0 (host and device), PCI, and a flexible parallel interface that can be configured as either high-speed memory mapped or streaming interface, for both master and slave operations.
Including the MAC/PHY standard interface defined by WiMedia and the ECMA-169 international standards, the TT•1013 chipset can also be used in conjunction with an external MAC or with an additional PHY.
The TT•1013 hosts an advanced power management engine, capable of dynamically selecting one of numerous power states during normal operations, ensuring that the best trade-off between performance and power consumption is always selected. |
